William Cody
Bill Cody is an associate in our New Orleans office and focuses on products liability, commercial litigation, LHWCA (Defense Base Act) and insurance litigation. Bill also has experience practicing in the following areas: railroad and toxic tort law--primarily involving the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)--environmental remediation, class action litigation concerning chemical releases, along with admiralty and maritime law focusing on the Jones Act and general maritime law arising from oil and gas exploration activities in the Gulf of Mexico and towing operations in the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi River.
Bill has served as the Senior Legislative Assistant and Counsel for former Congressman Bobby Jindal, operating as Congressman Jindal's primary advisor on legislation relating to transportation, energy, environment, natural resources, trade, labor, agriculture, Native Americans, and education. Before joining the congressman's office, Bill worked as Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation. He primarily researched, drafted, and analyzed legislation concerning maritime transportation and United States Coast Guard roles and missions.
Bill earned his Juris Doctorate in 2001 from Loyola University School of Law, where he served on the moot court staff, and earned his Bachelor of Science in 1996 from the University of Texas, where he majored in Radio-Television-Film. Throughout higher education, he earned numerous accolades, including College of Communication Dean's List, University of Texas Athletic Director's Honor Roll, and Southwest Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. Bill was also a member of the University of Texas football team.
